The Banners component allows you to display banners in rotation on your Mambo web site.
Banners may be placed anywhere within your site, depending on how you set their placement within your template. The Banner Component consists of two options, "Manage Clients" and "Manage Banners". Remembering that Banners are a component, you access their management through your Administrator Backend -> Components. To set up new banners, we must first create a client for the banner. The process is exactly the same whether you are creating just a catch-all for your own purposes, or creating a client banner account for an external client. The default installation for Mambo Complete will come with one banner client already set up as a demo, if you have installed the Sample Data. Clicking on Components -> Banners -> Manage Clients brings up the Banner Client Manager. To create a new banner client, just click the "New" icon. This then allows you to create a new banner client.
To create a new banner, you first go into your Banner Manager. Again, access this through your Administrator backend, Components -> Banners. Select the "New " icon as shown below (note: this screen shows the Sample Data that may be installed when you first install Mambo. If you did not choose to install Sample Data, there will be no listings in your Banner Manager until you add one).
Once you have clicked on "New" you will get this screen...
This page allow you to add a new banner to your Mambo CMS. Details
Remember that after every action within Mambo, you must either Save, Cancel or Apply, where these options are present. So, now we have created a Banner Client and a new Banner. Let's go back and look at the Banner Manager. In order for your Banners to display on your site, you must publish them. (The position in which they display is determined by your template). If your template includes the calls to load banners, you should now see banners on your web site. |
